Our Story
Autism in the D was born from a need for connection. Founded by Detroit native Tiera L. Moultrie, Autism in the D began as a way to help families navigate autism, find trusted resources, and feel less alone.
What started with one parent’s search for answers grew into a community-driven organization connecting families to support, education, resources, and inclusive experiences throughout Detroit and beyond.
Today, Autism in the D continues to build bridges between families, service providers, community organizations, and the resources families need to thrive.
Our work is rooted in lived experience, strengthened by community, and driven by a simple belief: every family deserves support, connection, and a place to belong.

Why it Matters
Families shouldn’t have to navigate autism alone.
For many families, finding the right resources can mean navigating long waitlists, confusing systems, limited information, and too few inclusive opportunities.
Autism in the D works to make that journey easier by connecting families to trusted resources, meaningful education, parent support, and inclusive community experiences.
We believe inclusion goes beyond awareness. It means creating a community where autistic individuals and their families are welcomed, supported, valued, and given opportunities to participate fully.
Because when families have the support they need, the entire community becomes stronger.
