Our Founder 

Tiera L. Moultrie is a Detroit native, devoted mother, passionate autism advocate, entrepreneur, and the founder of Autism in the D. Her journey began during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when her oldest son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of three. That experience sparked a mission to create more inclusive spaces, accessible resources, and meaningful support for Detroit-area families navigating autism.

With a background in graphic and web design, Tiera’s children ultimately inspired a new career path. She went on to gain several years of experience as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) and developed a professional background in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in ABA from Wayne State University in December 2025, bringing together her lived experience, education, and professional expertise.

What began as grassroots autism walks has grown into Autism in the D—a community-centered organization connecting families to resources, education, parent support, sensory-friendly experiences, and inclusive community programming.

Tiera is also the visionary behind Inscape Detroit, an adaptive and inclusive community center designed to create greater access to play, connection, education, and support for individuals and families of all abilities.

Her work is grounded in a simple belief: families should not have to navigate autism alone, and every individual deserves a place where they feel supported, valued, and included.
